Division of household duties

I hope this doesn't look familiar to anyone.
I am writing about the division of responsibilites in the household for my next column.
Secret Agent Man and I are traditional when it comes to the division of household chores. He brings home the bacon and I fry it up in a pan. HOw do you divvy up the responsibilites in your house?

  1. D makes the money, I spend it. I also do the cooking, the laundry and the majority of the housework, although he is known to do dishes and laundry when the need arises. He takes out the garbage and mows the lawn, although I have been known to do both of those when the need arises as well. Basically, we share the responsibilities for the house, but I try to take on most of it myself because he works all day, and doesn't need to stress about those things when he gets home.
Of course, the kids help out too.

  2. My situation sounds similar to Heff's. Husband is helpful at home--especially when I'm feeling like junk. And he's always good about helping with the Glitter Baby.

  4. I work about 25 hours a week, and husband works full time. I do the laundry for myself and kids. He does his own. I grocery shop, cook meals. He does the dishes every night. I clean bathrooms, mop, etc. He does outdoorsy and other jobs I don't do like lightbulbs, clogged toilets, cleaning fishtanks, etc.
I would say I do more "work" than he does. And, women who work outside the home typically do, too. We have a hard time giving up all the motherly duties.

  5. I went to work full-time 6 months ago when the hubs lost his income. Can you say division problems? I still am having a hard time giving up what I do best.

    *sigh
(he's not such a great cook!)

  6. If it's dirty, messy, or smelly HB or PB does it. If it's laundry or cooking I do it! Pretty straight forward :o)
