I thought that my mind was too strong to let the marketing machine with it's constant deluge of messages of commercialism and consumerism effect what I buy.
That is until I saw the Reece's Peanut Butter Cup commercial with New Order playing in the background.
My mind immediately combined the taste of the sweet chocolate and the creamy peanut butter with the memory of being a boy crazy and talktative fourteen year old girl at a church dance showing the world, every other Saturday night, that my sister and I were the best dancers on the gymnasium floor. We did some of our best moves to Bizzare Love Triangle."Must...have...a...Reece's...Peanut...Butter...cup."
I thought you were going to talk about the Elvis version. With the banana creme in the middle.
ReplyDeleteOh great. Now I have cravings!
ReplyDeleteHey, you put your chocolate in my peanut butter!
ReplyDeleteNo, you put your peanut butter in my chocolate!
Good times. Good times. One day I shall see you dance with your sister. Did you attend Arthur Murray?
Oh those clever evil monsters. What will they think of next?
ReplyDelete:D
I love bizarre love triangle! And, sadly, peanut butter cups.
ReplyDeleteThis is a tv commercial?
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I need one now too.
ReplyDeleteI tagged you if you are in need of something to write about!
I'm probably the only one in blog land who doesn't like peanut butter cups. although I will eat one if that's the only chocolate available, I make sacrifices like that
ReplyDeleteBoo hoo! My music player isn't working. You should be hearing super awesome 80's dance music right now!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see some of those dance moves. Don't be shy ;>!
ReplyDeleteNew Order - what sell-outs.
ReplyDeleteI think next time we all get together, we need to have a dance. Did I say that already?
I hear New Order in the background.....
ReplyDeleteAhh....church dances....New Order...peanut butter cups....six BOM between you and the ucky fella...good times....I tell you, good times.
Now that's just not fair...
ReplyDeleteOf course I just had a big ole piece of Almond Joy Birthday Cake so I'm slightly imune, but only slightly.
OH and I hear the music goodness too...I just assumed I was supposed to...maybe it's just the voices in my head.
ReplyDeleteAgain.
Hooray, it's working again. Everybody dance now!
ReplyDeleteoooh, i would be a slave to that commercial too. marketing people are getting wise and targeting our generation these days. eighties music and...what did i just see?? oh a 90210 pepsi commercial. i just think it's interesting.
ReplyDeleteI never knew the name of this song. I always thought it was I get down on my knees and pray, or something like that.
ReplyDeleteI am not fond of peanut-butter cups, but like jean will eat them if they are the only source of chocolate. New Order...awwww one of my long time fav's!! However, I was dancing to it in college at the dances. At BYU the college dances are the same as the Stake dances--lots of girls showing off and lots of ucky boys watching. Not a good memory there! RM's aren't always what they seem.
ReplyDeleteMust. Have. One.
ReplyDeleteAnd what happened to the Utah Blogfest trip? Was I wrong in thinking you were going?
Annie, you're so smooth, I just love you to pieces......Reese's Pieces!
ReplyDeleteoh those sensory experiences will get you every time. Stake dances were sooo much fun I also have been to many years of them as an adult too, so fun, but i think I have had all I can take of the Chicken Dance:) It was very fun the first 50 times
ReplyDeleteI....LOVE....CHOCOLATE...I...NEED....SOME....NOW
ReplyDeleteC-H-O-C-O-L-A-T-E!!! Gimme! :D
