Small town girl, big city dreams.

I've had my passport stamped a few times, but I have never been to New York City. Secret Agent Man is currently on assignment across the river in New Jersey. He's flying me out to spend a long weekend with him in the Big Apple. I try not to get involved in his super secrety third world dictator-toppling missions, but the chance to stand under the Time Square webcam and wave hi to all my bloggy friends (More on that to come.) was too good to pass up. We also have tickets to see The Lion King the musical on Broadway. I'm glad the strike is over. I didn't anything standing in the way of me getting my hakuna matata on!

Do you have any advice for this small town gal's visit to the city that never sleeps?

  3. You mean stuff like:
    Don't take candy from strangers.

Don't eat the little candy coated fennel seeds at the Indian restaurants because what if people don't wash their hands before digging into them. (That would be Shazzy's advice)

  6. Oh my sister went a couple of years ago, and it was probably summer. There was a guitar singer guy hanging out in his tighty whities! I was going through some pictures this week and found that one...my sister, her friend, and the underwear guy! I hope you find him!

I saw The Lion King in LA--fabulous!!!!!! Have fun! I want to go to NY some day.

  10. Oh! New York is so fun! We saw the Lion King there a few years ago and I was totally entranced by the amazing animal props. Eat some good food. See everything. Wear comfortable, but cute shoes (I swear everyone who lives there has cute shoes). And do some shopping on Canal Street.

    FUN!!!

  11. I'm so happy for you!
My advice is that even if you are a small town girl, you are a BIG gilr. So don't worry you're going to have a blast (of fun).
Can't wait to see you on the cam :)

  12. Don't stare at all of the lights at night for too long. I spent a weekend in Las Vegas with a terrible headache from all of the lights--or maybe it was staying up all night running around. Either way, I ended up with a headache that ruined a good part of my time there. Oh! and don't faint when your tiny morning glass of O. J. is $5.

    Have fun!

  13. Gotta go eat at Katz Deli! The most incredible place!!!! If you ride the subway, don't make eye contact with anyone!

Also, go to Ground Zero and The Statue of Liberty! Enjoy!

  16. "I've had my passport stamped a few times..."

Sweetie cakes, enjoy it while you can. I had to gives my passport up as a condition of my bail.

Flight risk, my chihuahua! I wouldn't flee the country (I only goes to Canada to gets my cheap "prescription" drugs).

'Tis the season for magic brownies!

  17. I'd make the New York City Culinary World Tour.

First stop: NY Cheesecake followed by NY Pizza and some of the famous NY delicatessans.

    As Elton would sing
"Can you feel the pastrami tonight? Toniiiight.

Ride the subway- its SO fun!:) Go to Rays pizza in Times Square and go to Magnolia's in Greenwich Village- they have to die for cupcakes made famous by the show "Sex in the City". Go see "Mary Poppins" It is FABULOUS. I watch the times square live cam all the time because I am dying to go back- I know creepy.

  19. If you get a chance try to catch a late show at Caroline's in the City. There are great comedy acts there and the pizza is AWESOME. Just walk, hang out, and enjoy everything. Of course make sure to check out the Christmas displays at Bloomingdale's and Barneys!
