Ready for Fall

I decorated the niche in my entryway with some fall accents. I am really happy with how it turned out. That niche has been so hard to decorate. It remained empty for months. Sometimes when Mini Me was looking particularly cute, I would put her up there and take her picture. We have lived in this house for almost two years and I am finally starting to get the hang of how to fill the niche. I like Christmastime because I put a mini tree in there and decorate it will small picture frames filled with photos of family and friends. But after the tree comes down, I'm at a loss as to what to do with this hole in the wall next. Now that I am at peace again with the niche, it's time for me to change out the green spring/summer curtains in the living room for something more seasonally appropriate. I am thinking a darker green with heavier fabric. Maybe I will go wild and hang rich, dark teal velvet drapes from Anthropologie. Ooohh, that might be interesting.

  2. We have a niche thingie too. I filled it by hanging a boring straw hat that has flowers and ribbons glued to the brim and then I placed doo-dads and pictures on the sill. That was 10 years ago. I have a niche, but it's not a niche for creativity!

  3. I thought you were going to set your Dyson in that space? I think it'd look great!

  4. We have lived in this house for two years, and we only have a giant clock hanging on one of our "Longhorn" walls. It's hard to get motivated to put holes in the wall now because we'll be moving next summer.

I think dark teal curtains would be cool.

  5. I wish we had curtains in the house. The only room with them is Baby Girls. We are renting and I hate putting more holes in the wall. Someday I will have my own home again... SIGH.

  6. Just don't go into Anthropologie and take pictures of the curtains first. Those salesladies can get quite snippy.

I love your niche. How come *I* don't have one? ::pout::

Oh well, I guess that's what axes are for...

  7. You have an eye for pretty things and putting those things together and making them even prettier.
Some of us can't even glue to pieces of paper together. OS we just sit here and enjoy your creativity.
    :) TA-DA!

  16. we had a niche in a previous apartment and i bought a similar little topiary tree. and then i killed it because i never watered it. it was always a tricky place to fill. but you've done it nicely. to change it up you could always buy a really large vase and fill it with realistic looking fake flowers or fruit or something. i love decorating. i wish i had more money. oh and my own house too. happy fall!
