"Who says band's not cool?"

This is a short video of the Venezuelan National Youth Orchestra. They are directed by a young man named, Gustavo Dudamel. Many of you know that I lived in Venezuela for over a year as a missionary for my church. I miss mi otra patria (my other homeland). I would love a chance to go back. I keep in regular contact with a couple of queridas amigas (dear friends). One of them recently sent me this video. I love it because it embodies the spirit and exuberance of the Venezuelan people. Enjoy!

  5. I loved your Anniethology on Idol (all of them). It made me laugh so hard. I might have even peed a little bit. Brooke White totally looks like lamb chop.

  7. This is me commenting...
Now that is my kind of orchestra concert! None of that black tie business. I don't know when American Idol comes on here...no cable, but I love your "Who's your daddy?" bits. I have a friend that runs an American Idol pool...the first year she did it she had a hard time getting 12 people...now she has nearly 200. Yeah, she's a regular bookie.
Thanks for checkin' out my blog.

  8. If Shazzy hadn't gone bald, he'd totally look like that director.

  10. I saw that guy on 60 Minutes a few weeks ago. He has an amazing passion for music. He started a music program for inner city Venezulian kids and he is the youngest director ever hired by the Las Angeles Phil Harmonic.

My pop culture knowledge is fierce.

  11. That was Awesome! I got chills! I played violin in junior high and Hated all the slow classical songs that our conductor chose, so I quit the orchestra. I would TOTALLY have stuck it out if we did songs like those Fabulous Venezuelans!!!
